The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, alongside 46 other aspirants from participating in the ongoing party’s senatorial primaries.
The development was contained on the list of senatorial aspirants not cleared to contest in the APC’s senate primary election.
In a statement issued on Monday, Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, said the screening exercise was conducted by the party’s screening committees in line with established procedures and guidelines.
Maidoki was elected into the Senate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC last year.
The senator had however, resigned from the APC days before the release of the disqualification list.
Maidoki announced his resignation in a letter dated May 14, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
He attributed his decision to the “lingering internal crisis” within the party, which he said had negatively affected his political ambition.
“I write to formally notify you of my withdrawal from the APC, Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter read in part.
The party also disqualified Tein Jack-Rich, former presidential aspirant, from the Rivers West Senatorial contest ahead of the primaries.
