Sunday Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff, has ordered intensified, intelligence-led air operations against terrorist and bandit groups, warning commanders against any form of complacency during a strategic visit to Bauchi State.
Speaking to personnel at the Nigerian Air Force’s Special Operations Command, Aneke said the force would sustain “decisive operational pressure” to counter evolving security threats, stressing that missions must be precise, intelligence-driven, and result-oriented.

“This Command remains central to safeguarding national sovereignty and delivering decisive airpower,” he said, adding that every operation must deliver measurable impact in the fight against insecurity.
The Air Chief’s visit included an inspection of operational assets and infrastructure aimed at assessing combat readiness and strengthening mission effectiveness. He reiterated that operational preparedness remains non-negotiable and directed commanders to maintain discipline, accountability, and a high operational tempo.
During a courtesy call on Emir of Bauchi Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, Aneke underscored the importance of civilian cooperation in security operations, noting that public trust is critical to achieving lasting peace. The monarch commended the Air Force for its role in maintaining stability and pledged continued support for security efforts.

Aneke also highlighted ongoing investments in advanced air platforms, intelligence systems, and personnel training, describing them as key to enhancing the force’s combat capability. He assured officers and airmen of improved welfare and infrastructure, stating that better living and working conditions are essential to sustaining operational success.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Idris, Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, affirmed that the unit remains aligned with the Chief’s directives and is maintaining sustained pressure on criminal elements through coordinated air operations.
