Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation urged to drive excellence in service delivery

Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation urged to drive excellence in service delivery

Imo-Abasi Jacob, managing director/CEO, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP)

Imo-Abasi Jacob, managing director/CEO, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), has urged management staff of the corporation to focus on delivering results that drive excellence, rather than just overseeing the activities of their respective departments.

He made this known during the recent management retreat of the corporation at the Ibom-Led Penthouse, Uyo, saying that management staff should evolve beyond their traditional departmental roles and become delivery experts, driving results and excellence in their new capacity.

Speaking on ‘Diagnostic Review of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation,’ Jacob stated that the organisation must now prioritise efficiency, adhering to due process; respecting timelines and embracing global best practices to achieve its set objectives.

He emphasised that to reposition the organisation and fulfill its mandate, it was crucial to identify effective strategies, which, he noted, could only be achieved through strategic planning sessions, hence, the need for the retreat.

He further noted that Governor Umo Eno-led administration is dedicated to reviving the corporation’s former glory, with the return of all State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to the corporation’s purview.

According to him, AKICORP will assume full custodial responsibility for all State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) by March 2025, given the development.

Godwin Ukwat, executive director, Agricultural Investment, who functioned as the coordinator of the retreat, clarified that the retreat aimed to facilitate the development of a realistic and achievable work plan for 2025.

He further urged the management staff that when creating a 12-month budget, it’s essential to break the budget proposal down into time-based activities and measurable successes.

Also, every member of management presented strategic action plan for their respective directorates, departments as well as units which culminated in well thought through Strategic Implementation Plan for AKICORP and Akwa Ibom State.
