Aiyedatiwa orders contractors back to site

Ondo 2024: Oke collapses structure for Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has ordered contractors handling roads in the state to immediately return to the site for the timely completion of such projects.

Aiyedatiwa gave the order at the weekend in Akure through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

Allen Idowu, the permanent secretary at the ministry, said the order was coming in addition to the approval given by the state governor for the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of 60km of roads across the state within the next three months.

Aiyedatiwa, who had promised that all ongoing infrastructural projects in the state would be completed, directed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to mobilise contractors back to site to speed up work on the projects for early completion.

Aiyedatiwa, who expressed the determination of his administration to hit the ground running with the implementation of policies and programmes, assured the timely payment for jobs done by contractors.

The projects to receive urgent attention, as directed by Aiyedatiwa, include among others, but are not limited to the following; completions of Owo township dualisation, Oba Osupa–Oluwatuyi–Ijoka (Akure) dualization, Oda dual carriage (Akure), Akure flyover (Onyearugbulem-Shagari-Irese), constructions of 15.89km selected roads in Ondo township, Arigidi–Ogbagi Akoko road, Internal roads in the Olusegun Agagu University of Technology, Okitipupa, Emure-Ile–Eporo road, rehabilitation/Asphalt overlay of 18.65 selected roads in Akure, constructions of selected roads in Akungba Akoko, Igbobini, Ilaje, reconstruction of Oritaobele junction–Okeodu, with the spur to Ipinsa road/Maronu street, rehabilitation/reconstruction of Alagbaka GRA roads and rehabilitation of Bolorunduro–Fagbo road, etc.

Idowu, therefore, expressed the readiness of Governor Aiyedatiwa to ensure that the needed resources are made available on time to encourage the contractors handling the projects in the state.

The contractors, according to him, have expressed their willingness to speed up the projects to meet the deadline set by the governor.
