Ambassador Dare Bejide, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Saturday raised concerns over an incident that occurred at Ward 2, Polling Unit 004, Oke Omieja, Ilawe-Ekiti, during the ongoing governorship election.
The incident reportedly caused a brief disruption at the polling unit before voting activities resumed.
Speaking with journalists, Bejide alleged that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived at the polling unit with a large sum of money which he said they objected leading to a disagreement at the venue.
He further alleged that those involved were from different wards and had no business at the polling unit.
The ADC candidate also claimed that his driver sustained an injury during the incident.
Bejide said that he reported the incident to the police officers who advised him to make a formal report and forward it to Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, for further action.
Also speaking, CP Abayomi Shogunle, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election, said he was in the polling unit to assess the situation and observed that voting was still ongoing.
He said, “I came here with my men and observed that voting is still ongoing. There may be one or two arguments, but there is a need to settle them amicably.”
