The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with alleged transnational drug smuggling after intercepting 197 sachets of Tramadol during a border patrol operation.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

The suspects, identified as Muhammad Mustapha, 32-year-old of Dorayi, Kano State, and Muhammad Sanusi, 48-year-old of Garoua, Cameroon, were apprehended by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit while on routine patrol duty.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment of suspected illicit drugs were transported from a South-Eastern state and routed through Adamawa State with plans to smuggle it into the Republic of Cameroon before security operatives intercepted it.

Reacting to the arrest, Morris Dankombo, the Commissioner of Police, commended the Border Patrol Unit for their vigilance and professionalism. He directed the Command’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.

The Command reaffirmed its determination to combat drug trafficking and other cross-border crimes, pledging sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.
