Commercial activities were on Tuesday paralysed in Akure, the Ondo State capital as tippers and quarry owners blocked a major road, Oba Adesida road, to protest the alleged burning of a truck by angry commercial motorcyclists in the state.
Recall that a truck was on Friday night burnt following an accident which involved a motorcyclist and a truck parked along High Court road in the state capital.
Some of the roads blocked with trucks during the peaceful protest included NEPA Roundabout, A- Division, High court road and hospital road which made some residents to trek while car owners also parked by the roadside following the disruption of traffic for several hours.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday said it had deployed 1,855 personnel for provision of adequate security before, during and after the Eid el Fitri celebration in Ondo State.
Olufemi Omole, the Ondo State command’s public relations officer, disclosing this in a statement made available to journalists in Akure, however, congratulated the Muslim brothers and Sisters for the success of the Ramadan fasting and encouraged all Nigerians to intensify prayers on the Security challenges of the nation.
The statement said the state commandant of the corps, Eweka Edenabu Dauglas has warned officers to be conscious of all identified flashpoints which happen to be the converging arena for criminals.
