Abia HoS warns against extortion of civil servants for issuance of Gen. 35

The Abia state Government has again warned against the collection of various sums of money from civil/public servants for the issuance of Gen. 35 in the State Public Service.

The warning is coming on the heels that some officials of the MDAs in the service are reportedly extorting money from some workers seeking to collect their Gen. 35 which is on-going in the state.

Consequently, Onyii Wamah, the State Head of Service, has directed all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of other Government establishments to ensure the immediate refund of such money so far collected from Civil/public Servants, in the name of Gen. 35.

Wamah, also warned those who indulged in the act to desist forthwith as any Civil/Public Servant caught in the collection of such money would face disciplinary action in line with the Public Service Rule (PSR).

The number one (1) Civil Servant who expressed disappointment that while Government is making sincere efforts to make life bearable for the workforce, some unscrupulous workers are adamant to such, describing it as unfair, wickedness and therefore unacceptable.

He charged Permanent Secretaries and Heads of other establishments to daily check mate the activities of Department and Unit Heads under their watch.
