Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, Professor of Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin, has said Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s prudent financial management in the last six years has reduced Kwara’s debt burden and boost the State revenue base.

Abdulbaqi stated this while delivering the keynote address at a maiden personality lecture to honour the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, organized by the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and sponsored by Muhammed Gali Alaya, a Non-Executive Director of the NNPCL.

She spoke on the theme:“Kwara Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow: The Giant Strides of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.” describing the governor as being magnanimous and financially- disciplined.

The don lauded the governor’s commitment to completing inherited capital projects rather than allowing them to become abandoned, even as she urged the Government to sustain its developmental strides and ensure a worthy successor who would consolidate on the present gains.

She noted that sustaining these giant strides is a collective responsibility, adding that Abdulrazaq’s six-year record of service had been exceptional, impactful, and unmatched by his predecessors.

According to her, Kwara had lagged behind other legacy states in infrastructural development and governance before Governor Abdulrazaq’s administration, commending his transformative road networks, economic projects, and infrastructural initiatives.

She highlighted his remarkable contributions to infrastructural development, particularly in urban renewal, rural-urban road networks, waste management, inclusive governance, teachers’ recruitment, and prompt salary and gratuity payments.

“If you examine this administration, you’ll see that all segments of society are represented—men and women, young and old, people with and without disabilities. This inclusivity fosters a sense of belonging and encourages citizens to align with government policies,” she stated.

Similarly,Justice S.O. Muhammed praised Abdulrazaq’s outstanding performance across key sectors, noting that his impact was greater than what was being reported in the media.

He revealed that the governor recently approved full payment of gratuities owed retired judges and Kadis.

Earlier, Ahmed Lanre Abdullateef, NUJ Chairman, kwara State Council noted that the programme was organised to further highlight the governor’s achievements.
