A fatal accident occurred on Sunday morning at Magboro Bust Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, involving two vehicles and 16 people.
One person died, and seven others were injured in the crash around 7:50 AM.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to PUNCH, the accident occurred when the driver of a Mercedes Benz ML350 (AKD424HH) lost control while trying to avoid a road user who was crossing the road. The Mercedes Benz collided with a Volkswagen commercial bus (KSF934YA) parked at the bus stop.
Another eyewitness attributed the cause of the accident to indiscriminate parking of commercial vehicles at the bus stop and speeding.

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident, attributing it to speeding. She said sixteen people were involved in the crash, including eight males and eight females. Seven people were injured, and one person died.
Okpe also decried the indiscriminate parking of commercial vehicles on highways, describing it as a major cause of accidents at the Magboro Bus Stop.
This tragic accident is a reminder of the importance of safe driving and road safety awareness. Drivers should always be aware of their surroundings and obey traffic laws. Commercial vehicle operators should also be mindful of where they park their vehicles, especially at bus stops.
