30,000 candidates applied for Auchi Poly in 2022/2023 academic session – Rector

The authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi on Friday said no fewer than 30,000 candidates applied for the institution as their preferred choice in the 2022/2023 academic session.

Saliu Umar, rector of the institution, who made the disclosure at the 41st matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic in Auchi, said out of the figure, 15,000 students were admitted.

“As you continue in your academic sojourn in the polytechnic, I wish you the best.

“Once again, on behalf of the governing council and management of the polytechnic, I congratulate and welcome you to Auchi Polytechnic; one of the highly sought-after institutions in Nigeria”, he said.

He warned the new students against involvement in cultism, examination malpractice and other vices.

He also warned that anybody caught violating examination rules could be expelled from the polytechnic.

The rector also enjoined the students to make the best use of the institution’s facilities to become well-grounded and employable after graduation.

While explaining that the institution frowns at indecent dressing, he added that the Dress Code Committee had been set up to ensure that students comply with the approved dress code of the polytechnic.

Umar restated the polytechnic’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for students to excel and to ensure an uninterrupted academic calendar.

He further disclosed that the institution has introduced 19 new programmes to take off next session.

The rector pledged the management’s commitment to restoring the glory of Auchi Polytechnic as one of the foremost polytechnics in Nigeria.
