Bashir Bolarinwa, former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, and a governorship aspirant under the platform of APC, has submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to the APC executives, a step that formally signals the commencement of his electoral campaign.

While submitting the form in Abuja on Saturday, Bolarinwa reaffirmed his commitment to confronting the security challenges facing the state when elected in the 2027 general elections.

He said that restoring peace, strengthening public safety, and protecting lives and property would remain central to his vision for a safer, more secure, and more prosperous Kwara State.

“It is my wish, by the grace of God, to enhance the quality of life, health and making our people to be better than the way the situation is. Most importantly, the issue of insecurity that has taken over the entire State – the Kwara North, the Kwara South, where I come from – most of the places are now deserted. There are so many humanitarian crisis as a result of bandit attacks,” he said.

“This is one area which must be tackled head-on and I want to say that it’s going to be one of the things that will top our agenda,” he added.

The APC aspirant, who formally declared his intention to run for governor on April 28, 2026,  also emphasised that the provision of social services remains fundamental in improving the quality of life of the people.

He noted that access to quality health, education, social welfare and other essential public services will receive priority attention under his leadership.

According to him, governance must translate into tangible benefits for the citizens, especially in areas that directly affect their daily lives and well-being.

He said that when entrusted with the mandate at the governorship election, his administration will be guided by a people-centred vision focused on expanding opportunities and delivering responsive services that will uplift communities across the state.

Bolarinwa expressed confidence in his chances of emerging as the next governor of Kwara State.

“I am not just contesting, I pray and wish that I will be the one that will succeed the incumbent governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has done his bit and who is continuing to do a good work for the state,” he said.
