2023: Buhari, Tinubu in late night meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday night, met with Bola Tinubu, presidential aspirant and former Lagos State governor, in a late night parley, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

BusinessDay Villa sources said the meeting may not be unconnected with the Presidential ambition of the All Progressive Congress (APC) national leader.

Tinubu had in February met the President to declare his 2023 Presidential ambitions and informed the president of his plans to run for the seat, under the platform of the APC.

Though there was no pre-notice for the visit, BusinessDay gathered that Buhari hosted Tinubu at his official residence, inside the Presidential Villa

Details of the meeting and discussions were not available as of the time of filing this report

But a source close to the Presidency revealed that “Tinubu had missed out an Iftar dinner hosted in honour of leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by President Buhari on April 26.

“There is noting much to the meeting. It was just to make up for the iftar which he missed,” the source said.

Tinubu was said to be performing the lesser Hajj (Umrah) at the time, but was listed among the 18 leaders of the APC for the evening with the President.

Since his declarations, the South West had witnessed several other declarations for the Presidency, under the APC platform, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is acclaimed to be one of his political protégé.

This is as Ibikunle Amosun, former Ogun State governor, and Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State governor are also eyeing the presidency, under the APC platform.
