Movie Review – Terminator Dark Fate

Movie Review 49 – Terminator Dark Fate

Its quiet weird how it has taken me over 3 weeks to coordinate my thoughts and come up with this review. You know those kind of movies where you watch for like 3 hours and then when its over, you don’t know want really happened. I really didn’t know what went on and how it transpired, but then you just have to see it to make your own judgment. I guess they didn’t just get it right for me, as some of the scenes, dragged for too long. They could have told a better story.

This new sequel was directed by Tim Miller and written by David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, & Billy Ray. Quite a complicated storyline that was so difficult to connect and understand. The movie had good production, cinematography and good cast, which made up a bit for the down sides. It was good to see Arnold Schwarzenegger again after a very long time. Arnold started this journey in 1984, 1991, 2003, 2009, 2015, and this new sequel in 2019, although most people liked it, I guess I didn’t get it clearly and couldn’t comprehend why human machines will run and fight for over 2 hours. I suspect we might have another sequel soon, which I sincerely don’t think is necessary, but then lets us watch and see.

If you have being following the story, you will see that’s it has being more than 2 decades since we last saw Sarah Connor, lose her son and save the world from judgment day, this changed the future and helped rewrite the fate of the world. This story was centered around Natalia Reyes who was referred to as Dani Ramos and her brother Diego Boneta, who lived a very plain life with their biological father in Mexico, a very busy and populated city. A few minutes into the movie a very dangerous terminator (a Rev 9) (Gabriel Luna) appears from out of space, kills her dad and starts to chase after her. The entire movie entailed Dani running from one point to the other all in the quest to save her life, for her to achieve that, she had to join forces with 2 warriors: Makenzie Davis who was referred to as Grace and an enhanced extraordinary powerful and talented soldier from the future and our ever radiant Sarah Connor who had to return again to save the world. As they ran seeking for help and shelter from the Rev 9, they had to result to seeking help from Arnold who seemed to be their last hope on earth, if they were to defeat death and still live on,.The Rev 9 was so strong and powerful and everywhere he went he destroyed all that came his way.

To my verdict I would score this movie 6/10, I think the movie was just simple and too basic for an action movie, I felt the scenes dragged for too long and could have being shortened. The storyline for me was too plain, and deep down in my heart I felt they could have done better, with the end. Maybe I went in there expecting too much.

Anyway for the action movie lovers out there, I am sure a lot of you would still enjoy the movie if you go in with an open heart and the fans of Arnold would always love him, no matter what he does, that shows a true legend in him.  For all the action movie lovers out there, you could run along and see this movie, before it goes off, and make sure you let me know what you think about it.
