Tinubu to National Assembly: We will present 2024 supplementary budget to NASS soon

You’re on a rescue mission, Tinubu tells new ministers

President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is walking the talk in the timely passage of annual budgets. He announced his readiness to present the 2024 supplementary appropriation to the National Assembly soon.

Tinubu said this in a terse remarks at the joint session of the National Assembly to mark his first year in office. The president was in the company with Kashim Shettima, the vice president, Abdullahi Gnduje, and former Kano governors.

“Charting a new path for development I have submitted the last budget to you, you expeditiously passed it, and we are walking the talk. We will soon bring the year 2024 supplementary bill, that is just for your information”, Tinubu said.

He challenged lawmakers to ensure they collaborate to preserve Nigeria’s democracy and the future of unborn generations. He stated that the future of Nigeria lies on Nigerians particularly leaders, stressing that even foreigners who bring aid to Nigeria take care of themselves first.

“So continue to collaborate, work together build our country, we have no other choice. It is our nation, no one no aid, no other institution or personality will help us unless we do it ourselves.

“No amount of aid that will come in from foreign countries or any other nation, they take care of themselves first. Let us work together as we are doing to build our nation, not only for us but for generations yet unborn”, the president said.

“But we must not risk this democracy, build this nation so that the future of our great-grandchildren will be sure of prosperity, development and progress”, Tunubu stressed.

Tinubu while launching the new National Anthem also admonished Nigerians to join hands together in brotherhood to build the nation. “You rang out the latest National Anthem. ‘Nigeria we hail thee, this is our diversity representing all characters and how we blend to be brothers and sisters. He thanked the lawmakers for building Nigeria up to its present stage, building the institution, building the country.

“You are first and foremost leaders that speak for our people and you have been in the forefront of this struggle. This institution, the hallowed chamber represents our consciousness of freedom and a sense of belonging.

“Without this House, probably I may not have found a path to the Presidency. I started all from here and that is why I have given the respect to you.

After his address, Tinubu proceeded to commission the National Assembly Library.
