The company had last year partnered with local governments in Lagos to assist indigent people. Under the partnership, the local councils are expected to select the needy that will benefit from the scheme and forward the names to the company.

Speaking at the presentation of the equipment, Temitope Asiwaju, the corporate affairs manager of Dufil said the company had last year given out 283 units of the cooking equipment and plans to give out the same number this year.

He said when the local governments submit the names, the company equally scrutinises the list before arriving at the beneficiaries. According to him, some of those who benefited last year had moved from cooking business to sub-distributors of Indomie brand. “We can only encourage them by giving them these utensils and they can cook and serve up to 10 to 15 cartons of Indomie daily.”

On what he described as a pilot project, Asiwaju said those who benefited so far are from Lagos and Ogun states.

The brand had also supported SIFE Nigeria, a global network for the empowerment and improvement in the quality of life and standard of living of people in communities around the world. Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a global network that improves the quality of life of people by teaching them the principles and values of free market economics and entrepreneurship.
