Kogi NUJ chairman tasks journalists on physical fitness

Chairman, Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ademu Seidu has urged working journalists to be constantly mindful of their physical fitness in the discharge their responsibilities.

Seidu made the call during a Road Walk by members of the Union as part of activities marking the 2024 Kogi NUJ Press Week organised by the Council, as he commended journalists in Kogi State for the massive turnout. He pointed out that it would strengthen the bond among members in the state aside other health benefits.

“Ordinarily, on other days, we seldom have time for things like this and that is why we lined up all these activities.

“To the glory of God, the road work was successful. Starting from Friday, we commenced the Press Week activities with prayers at the Ministry of Education Juma’at Mosque.

“We had a Special Sunday Service at United Evangelical Church (UEC), Gadumo and this morning, the road walk. It was a huge success, thank God for the blessings of rain.

“When you are not sound, this work cannot go smoothly. With the level of fitness we have today, I think we are good to go, especially with thegrand finale of our Press Week coming up tomorrow,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to God that this year’s Press Week has so far, been very successful as he expressed the hope that the Grand Finale would be tremendously successful, adding that journalists should upscale their commitment to the union activities in Kogi State and uphold the ethics of the profession at all times in the discharge of their duties.

He pointed out that the place of journalists in ensuring the sustenance of a virile democracy, good governance and a better society cannot be overemphasised.
