As part of activities to commemorate the 2024 International Youth Day, GIZ, a German federal enterprise, has organised a one-day capacity building workshop for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Edo on employability skills.

The workshop, organised in collaboration with the Edo State Office of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was geared towards exposing participants to the needs of the labour market and provided a platform for peer-to-peer learning and networking.

It was also geared towards facilitating a smooth transition as well as promoting gainful employment.

The training, which was held in Benin, has as its theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress’ celebrated annually across the globe on August 12th.

The participants were also equipped with the necessary skills to secure gainful employment after their service year.

The event featured sessions on digitalisation, entrepreneurship, and employment promotion measures.

At the training, participants were also schooled on high-priority employability skills, Curriculum Vitae (CV) writing, and interview preparation tips.

According to her, these opportunities under its Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC) would advance their careers post-NYSC service.

In his remark, Markus Wagner, the Country Director of GIZ Nigeria, said the German organisation aimed to empower the youths with the tools and opportunities needed in life.

Wanger, who was represented by Duke Benjamin, Head of the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), said the capacity building would ensure a lasting impact and a seamless transition into future careers.

“During this programme, we aim to empower you with the tools and opportunities needed to make a lasting impact and ensure a seamless transition into your future careers,” he said.
