The inclusive approach to governance of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been commended, particularly in the appointment of non-indigenes into positions in his administration.
Empire Iweha, president of the Igbo Youth Congress (IYC), gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, saying the governor has demonstrated fairness by carrying non-indigenes along in governance and extending the dividends of democracy to all residents of the state.
Empire, who doubles as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Surveillance, described Ododo’s approach as worthy of emulation, adding that the administration has created equal opportunities for residents regardless of ethnic background, adding that about 11 Igbo sons and daughters currently serve in the Kogi State Government. He described the governor as a detribalised leader and a strong ally of the Igbo community, just as he commended the peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic and religious groups in the state and pledged the continued support and loyalty of non-indigenes to the Ododo administration.

On his stewardship as the eighth President – General of the Igbo Youth Congress since assuming office on July 8, 2022, Empire said his administration had executed five water projects and awarded scholarships to 50 Igbo students in Kogi State and 15 others across the South -East.
He said: “Six of the beneficiaries in the South-East graduated with First Class honours, including the overall best graduating student, while one scholarship beneficiary at the Federal University Lokoja graduated with First Class and three others earned Second Class degrees.
“I also extended scholarships to nine dependants of journalists across Kogi’s three senatorial districts, donated musical instruments to associations and communities, and commenced the renovation of the Igbo Community Hall”.
He equally added that two boreholes he executed at Crusher community and the Igbo Community Hall in Lokoja were recently inaugurated by representatives of the governors of Abia and Kogi states.
Empire said the representatives commended his youth empowerment and community development initiatives.
