Wedding Channel debuts on GOTV to redefine entertainment

Wedding ceremonies in Nigeria go beyond being mere celebrations of love. They involve cultural and familial events deeply woven into the fabric of society.

The significance of this occasion has received a boost as Wedding Channel, a 24-hour station, was introduced on GOTV Channel 105 with an expanded offering of a rich tapestry of real wedding stories, fashion and beauty insights.

The new channel provides one-of-a-kind expert advice, ‘Do It Yourself’ inspirations, and romantic getaways with the aim of redefining entertainment for viewers who enjoy celebrating love, lifestyle and entertainment.

The channel will showcase an exciting lineup of featured programmes, each designed to captivate audiences with its unique perspective on weddings, relationships, and African culture.

Among the line-up of shows that viewers on the GOTV channel 105 would enjoy is Wedding Police: a show hosted by the renowned Chioma Ikokwu. This fashion-forward show takes viewers behind the scenes of star-studded African weddings, offering an exclusive glimpse into the latest trends and styles in wedding fashion.

Another important show is Link Up: it is where the host and a celebrity guest will play matchmaker on the engaging dating show, bringing together compatible individuals who are searching for love and companionship.

Michaels Olatunde, chief executive officer of the Wedding Channel, said the ground-breaking 24-hour wedding channel offers viewers a nonstop celebration of love, commitment, and joy.

Some of the shows, Olatunde said, include ‘Ready to Mingle’ show, which offers viewers the thrill of speed on dating as real people seek love on this brand-new show airing Thursdays on DSTV and GOTV.

He said that Wedding on a Budget (WOAB) provides insider tips and advice from expert wedding vendors on planning a dream wedding without breaking the bank, with new episodes airing Tuesdays on DSTV and GOTV.

Olatunde said the show Wedding Playlist will set the perfect mood for that special day with a music chart show featuring celebrities’ top 10 favourite wedding songs.

Some of the shows that would be on the channel include:

The Sisi Eko is an inspiring documentary-style show that celebrates the achievements and stories of African female trailblazers, highlighting the resilience and empowerment of women across the continent.

The Reel: Dive into the world of cinema with this movie review show for movie lovers. It provides insightful commentary and critiques on the latest films and classics alike.

Bar Room Therapy: This is an intriguing show hosted by Sola Thompson and Oscar, as the case may be. It’s a program where our guests and personalities pour out their innermost desires, insecurities, lessons, and hopes for the future.

Sola Thompson and Oscar, the bartender, are the hallmarks of this show. Each episode is packed with never-before-heard stories that provide insight into the lives of these personalities. After all, a little therapy never hurts anybody.

Olatunde however, said that the channel symbolises a dedication to enriching lives with heartwarming stories, expert insights, and unforgettable moments.

“We believe in creating a platform where every viewer can find inspiration and connection, making us the go-to destination for love and weddings,” he said.

The Wedding Channel, which can also be seen on DSTV Channel 176, promises an unforgettable journey into love, romance, and celebration.
