Alaba Lawson to be buried December 8

Ogun Government to work with family on burial for late Alaba Lawson

Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland

Alaba Lawson, a renowned educationist, entrepreneur, and Iyalode of Yorubaland who passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 72, will be buried on December 8, 2023, in her hometown of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Alaba Lawson was a passionate and selfless woman who championed women’s rights. She was also a successful businesswoman and educator.

In a statement provided to reporters, the deceased’s media adviser, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, stated that the announcement of the burial came about as a result of a Sunday family gathering and that a committee had been formed to refine the schedule of events.

According to the announcement, Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, Akin Jiboku, and Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Head Media) are among the members of the media team, while Sanya Abiola serves as the chairman of the Central Planning Committee.

“Ayo Olusanya is to head Ceremonial /Entertainment, as well as Olalekan Jiboku as Head Security, while Tunji Akintayo is in charge Protocol/Logistics”

It was decided at the family gathering, presided over by Chief Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi, that Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku should be added to the Central Planning Committee.

The burial programme has been concluded as follows:

* December 1–6: Various groups, associations, and professional bodies to celebrate the deceased
* December 7: Service of song at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta
* December 8: Burial church service at St James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, followed by interment for the family of the deceased
