Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, has stepped down from presiding over the ongoing investigation of financial malfeasance in the Commission to give room for fair hearing, having been accused of involvement in the allegations.
Tunji-Ojo stepped down at the beginning of the investigation being attended by the minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio, and acting managing director of NDDC, Kemerbrandikumo Pondei.
Akpabio, who had been absent for the probe since it commenced last week Wednesday, is to respond to several allegations levelled against him concerning shady deals in NDDC.
Similarly, Pondei, who in company of other management staff of NDDC last Thursday walked out on the Committee accusing its chairman, Tunji-Ojo, of complicity in the allegations against the Commission, is to respond to allegations against him.
The House Committee had last Friday summoned the minister of Niger Delta affairs and the acting managing director of NDDC to appear unfailingly today (Monday) to answer questions on allegations against them by different individuals and companies.
