Foundation targets capacity building for women through skill acquisition, funding

Funke Felix-Adejumo Foundation (FFAF), a development agency that focuses on women empowerment campaign, has perfected plans to commence an annual empowerment programme for 50 selected indigent women in the society.

The empowerment programme, which will involve making funds available for the 50 selected women to start small scale businesses, will also come with mentoring and training of some of the women in possible career opportunities so as to enable them acquire the needed skills to grow their businesses.

FFAF, which has also announced plans to host its maiden edition of ‘Women on the Winning Edge’ conference slated for January 16 to 18, 2015 at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Lagos, will also unveil and commence the registration for onward selection of the beneficiaries of the proposed empowerment programme as the conference progresses.

Billed to be an annual event, the conference, which is led by Funke Felix-Adejumo, will see 16 exceptional speakers address a wide range of female focused issues within the three days. The speakers include Margaret Benson-Idahosa, Folu Adeboye, Nike Adeyemi, Ifeanyi Adefarasin, first ladies of Lagos, Ondo and Kwara states and many others

Funke Felix-Adejumo, founder of FFAF foundation who also doubles as the convener of conference while speaking at a media briefing to unveil the conference in Lagos recently, said that ‘Women on the Winning Edge’ conference is a female development project organised to help women reach their potentials in life.

She said: “The project is a non-denominational gathering focused on women to come together to share real life issues and speak on development of their general well-being. The role of a woman as a nation builder cannot be over emphasised, therefore ensuring that a woman is balanced in spirit, soul and body helps set the tone for a better Nigeria.”

According to her, this year’s conference will be first and it will be one of the signature events of the FFA Foundation, along with the Mother’s Summit, Grace Orphanage Projects and The Woman Programme. The event is targeted at every woman, single, married, divorced, single mothers and women in general. Adequate security and logistics have been put in place to ensure the successful hosting of the conference.

On the empowerment programme, she disclosed that the foundation is already putting not less than N2m aside in the bank to fund the women entrepreneurship project, even as she added that a committee headed by a banker has been constitute to select and monitor the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme.

FFAF is a development agency founded by Felix-Adejumo to empower women to improve humanity and also help women fulfil their purposes as mothers, wives, careerists, friends and nation helpers.
