Yewande Abiose is a dynamic and forward-thinking professional with over 17 years of experience in the Nigerian energy sector. She has a proven track record of surpassing revenue targets and optimising profitability through strategic financial analysis, performance management, and budgeting.
Her role as Head, Strategic Partnerships at Energy Institute, UK, is to explore new sponsorship models and strategic partnerships globally, with a focus on growth areas in the Middle-East, Southeast Asia and Africa, to generate diverse income streams.
She is also responsible for utilising innovative sales tools and technology to effectively promote new and existing products while staying updated on market shifts and competition.
Furthermore, she is to develop a scalable account management and business development framework, implement deals, mechanisms, and contractual agreements to drive commercialisation of products and achieve long-term revenue growth.
Known for her inclusive leadership style, Yewande excels at fostering effective team communication and leveraging individual strengths to enhance efficiency and achieve company goals. She values building strong relationships within the energy industry and takes pride in connecting professionals and offering ongoing support and guidance.
While she was MD (Africa) / Global Communities Manager at same, Yewande successfully designed and executed Nigeria’s first energy sustainability conference. This serves as a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences in the global transition towards a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy system. It has evolved into an inclusive forum that brings stakeholders together to discuss energy mix dynamics and find solutions that meet the present needs while safeguarding the interests of future generations. Since its inception in 2018, the annual conference has played a pivotal role in driving the energy sustainability agenda in Nigeria and beyond.
Also, under Yewande’s leadership, the Africa Catalyst Project has achieved significant milestones. One of the key initiatives of the project was the Graduate Engineering Training Scheme (GETS). Out of 300 participants, 30 professionals were successfully trained and certified as power and renewable energy experts. Yewande secured funding for the project through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering UK.
With an MSc in Energy Economics and her vast experience in multiple spheres in the industry, Yewande brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective, always finding innovative solutions to challenges.
Her long-term ambition is to contribute to the expansion of renewable solutions and clean energy sources, making them a more significant part of the global energy mix. She envisions empowering communities with access to cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions.
