The saying that “life is truly fulfilling when we selflessly help others achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations” is by no means far from the truth. And when issues like that are tabled, personalities like Hadunni Olubunkunola Oasis Ogunjumelo naturally come to mind.

Hadunni graduated as an accountant, worked briefly as an auditor at UNIPETROL (now Oando) and Nigeria Airways respectively. But today, she is the CEO of Hadunni Entertainment which comprises WIN, Ignite a Smile, Kidney Rejoice and Praise and Raise Concerts in Nigeria.

Besides, Hadunni is the presenter of ‘Little Things Count’ an enlightenment, educative, mind and capacity building talk show.  Hear Hadunni break down what various parts of her organisation are into: “‘WIN means ‘We Impact Nation’. It is the educative and empowerment part that inspires, motivates and coaches and also empowers human capacity to positive functioning. We have three arms of WIN. First are the educative and training sessions which come in form of empowerment, seminars, conferences, forums, talk shows and camps. Under this, we have trained over 1, 800 youths in various seminars between 2009 till date. We also have the media, which is the media arm of WIN. We distribute free flyers, stickers, journals, books to enlighten the public. Then we have the ‘free skill acquisition’ and in that department, we have been able to train hundreds of youths on acquiring skills between 2009 till date. We have graduates in T-shirt making, hair-making and cosmetology at Elegant Twins School of Cosmetology. I am the primary training facilitator, while other facilitators are professionals in their chosen fields.”

On the basis of the seeming disparity between the high-profile and low, Hadunni created another arm of her organisation titled ‘Ignite a Smile, which she says is the help arm of her organisation: “We look for a way to help connect between the wealthy and the below-the-line but very resourceful sector of the nation. ‘Little Things Count’ has been able to connect people who did not believe in themselves to celebrities who gave impacted their lives positively. One of such persons is a boy named Samuel, who was handed over to renowned ace producer, Wole Oni and today, Samuel is a success story. Through this medium, we are making the dreams of the less privileged come true.”

There is another part of Hadunni’s organisation that deals with health issues, especially those that relate to kidneys- hence the name ‘Kidney Rejoice’. She speaks more on this: “I discovered an increased case in kidney failure through a nursing sister that worked at the dialysis centre in LUTH. I met Buchi at LUTH sometime ago. He was indeed the picture of the future evolving but down with pains due to renal failure. I paid him a visit after a while and got my crew to help raise funds for him but sadly, Buchi never made it. Again, I decided to pay a courtesy visit to the dialysis centre in LUTH so that no more dear ones will die. As time went by, we discovered an increase in kidney failure, especially among the youth and the upwardly mobile. The discovery at the dialysis centre gave more strength to the Kidney Rejoice Initiative. We increased public enlightenment and have been able to finance support to renal patients in the area of dialysis and kidney transplant.”

Wait for this: there is another side to this multitalented woman of virtue and that is the fact that Hadunni is a singer. She organises the ‘Praise and Raise’ concert which is an interdenominational session of praise and worship to the Most High so that people can get raised to their destiny.

But just before you can nod your head in approval, something is always on the front burner for Hadunni, and that is MINDS, a summit and TV program that I am honoured to always be part of in terms of motivational speaking at her events and counselling on her TV series called MINDS on TV. She speaks about it: “MINDS means Making Incredible Non-existing positive Difference Summit. It is a summit which is my way of giving back to the society. It is a free youth initiative event that focuses on giving platforms to the youth by celebrating and showcasing their success stories.

“Through this program, we have been able to help change the lives of various youths by telling their stories with them featuring in it. I just want to use this opportunity to say thanks to you Kemi for believing in this vision and constantly being part of it.”

Talk about one selfless woman of substance and Hadunni naturally comes to mind, she love to visit the homeless, the aged to feed, help and inspire them. “We only have one life to live and what is the worth of life if you cannot be of help to the next person. People often ask my why I do all I do despite the risks sometimes involved and my response to them is that it is what God has called me to do and when God gives you a vision, He backs you up so it is all about Him and none of me”

Giving her parting shots, Hadunni says: “Whatever you have was given to you by God, so we must learn to lend a helping hand to the needy and give a voice to the voiceless. Whatever it is that you can do to better your life, your environment, your nation and the world as a whole, please do… and remember, there is a reward for everything, here on earth and in heaven as well. I wish you all a fabulous 2015!”
