Impact Investors Foundation (IIF), a nonprofit organization is set to hold its second annual convening on impact investing, in line with its goal to accelerate the growth and excellence of impact investing in Nigeria.

The theme of this year’s convening is “Blending Finance for Social Investment in Nigeria: Opportunities and Challenges.”

The convening which is scheduled to hold on the 10th of October 2019 is a daylong event divided into three broad segments. The morning session, which will feature two moderated panel discussions; a specialized deal day session in the afternoon; and a dinner/award ceremony in the evening to honor individuals and corporates who have contributed significantly to the growth of impact investing in Nigeria. This year’s convening is designed to bring key actors from diverse sectors to discuss the opportunities and challenges in expanding the blended finance market in the country with a view to reducing the barriers to increasing private sector participation in social investments and financing of SDGs implementation in the county. The convening is also important to enable catalytic capital holders in Nigeria to better vision where their capital can be used most effectively to achieve their goals – whether to demonstrate proof of concept for a new business model or catalyze commercial capital.

What makes the IIF 2nd Annual Convening 2019 peculiar is the Deal Day session in the Afternoon which is poised to connect impact investors to social enterprises. The session will also educate social entrepreneurs on the criteria and expectations of institutional investors, shed light on capital gaps in the market, and match investors with potential investees.

The Deal Day session which is done in collaboration with Acumen Funds, a non-profit impact investment fund, is open to social enterprises who are  impact-oriented but have not raised more than $5 million externally.

“These are duly registered companies who must have been in operation for no less than 2 years.  Companies who register to participate will  go through a screening and selection process to ensure that they are carefully matched with the right potential investors to maximize this opportunity,” Maria Glover, Projects Lead for Impact Investors Foundation said.

IIF is a nonprofit organization founded through a partnership involving Bank of Industry (BOI), African Capital Alliance (ACA), BusinessDay Media Ltd, Dalberg Development Advisors and Ford Foundation, with the overarching goal of accelerating the growth and excellence of impact investing in Nigeria.
