Resident doctors value money more than human lives – CMD

Resident doctors value money more than human lives
Thomas Agan, chief medical director (CMD), University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, lambasted members of the Association of Residents Doctors (UCTH) branch for the ongoing strike over unpaid Skipping allowance from 2014 – 2016.
Agan, who said that the Resident Doctors do not take into cognizance the import of the strike action because they value money more than human live, which was not suppose to be so.
The CMD said this Wednesday in an interactive session with journalists in his office over the action of the Resident Doctors to down tools.
“My brother’s administration in the tertiary hospital is a very difficult one and no teaching hospital is self sufficient. What the Resident Doctors have done in view of the assurance giving means they are not interested in the sanctity of human lives,” he said.
He explained that the welfare of patience was more paramount than the welfare package of the Resident Doctors, insisting that it was not a crime for the Federal Government to employ them, rather than show understanding of the situation.
He further said the N100 million approve for the skipping allowance last year’s December disappeared from the server of the Ministry, which he reported to the relevant authority in Abuja. This is being addressed, he said, and wondered why the Resident Doctors should take such a hash stand by going on strike.
