EKSG disburses N2.2M to mothers of multiple births

As part of the effort towards relieving the stress and hardship of mothers with multiple births, Ekiti State Government has disbursed cash of two million, two hundred and twenty-four thousand naira (N2,224,000) with some food items and other materials to 60 beneficiaries mothers of multiple births.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Maryam Ogunlade who made this known in Ado-Ekiti said the cash ranges from N30,000 to N50,000.

Ogunlade who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Eunice Oladimeji recalled that the Multiple Birth Trust Fund was first inaugurated in June 2011 under the chairmanship of the mother General Erelu Bisi Fayemi, but was abandoned by the immediate past administration, noting that many homes have been touched and blessed through the program.

The Commissioner stated that the cash is to take care of these wonderful gifts from God, especially during this period of Covid 19
pandemic, and thereby advised the beneficiaries to always take precautionary measures to safeguard against the spread of the pandemic.

The Director of Women Affairs and Social Development, Sola Adeluyi, advised the beneficiaries to use the cash giving judiciously for the upkeep of the children.

She thanked Erelu Bisi Fayemi for assuring that the House of Assembly will ensure that the Multiple Birth Trust Fund is passed into law to make it go beyond the present administration.

One of the beneficiaries, Filaodun Omolayo from Iro Ekiti in Gbonyin Local government area, appreciated the State Government for its philanthropic gesture stressing that it will go a long way to ease their hardship.
