President Goodluck Jonathan Sunday reassured that the Federal Government will overcome the current security challenges posed by the Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram.
The President stated this at the Church of Christ in Nations COCIN, Area 1, Abuja, during prayers to mark the first Sunday of the year.
The President who stated that “Boko Haram is temporary” added that ” they will surely go.
“We are particularly committed to know where our challenges are, especially in some parts of the north. We are quite pleased with measures concerning Boko Haram and we sympathise with those who have been affected.
“A number of countries are facing similar challenges and some have been able to overcome it and surely we will overcome Boko Haram.”
Speaking on the economic hardship posed by insecurity in the Nothern part of the country, he declared that “Life in the north must change; development must go to all parts of this country.”
The President also vowed to work with other patriotic individuals in the country to ensure that “collectively, the country is liberated from the hands of any evil person, so that we can leave behind a Nigeria that our children and grandchildren will be proud of.” He added that “Nobody or group can hold this country to ransom.”
Police Affairs Minister, Caleb Olubolade, who spoke after the church service, called on all leaders from all spheres to unite and keep Nigeria peaceful.
“We have just one President and we have to support him. It is our responsibility to support our leader, he said.
