Senate says Customs Boss unfit to hold office, calls for his resignation

The Senate, on Wednesday, declared the Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali unfit to hold public office.
To this end, the upper legislative chamber urged the embattled Customs boss to‎ resign from office, following his refusal to wear Customs uniform and appear before it.
The decision of the Senate, followed a closed door session, where lawmakers brainstormed on the issue.
The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, also came under fire, over a letter he wrote to the Senate, wherein he urged it to maintain status quo ante on the appearance of Ali, on the grounds that the matter was already a subject of litigation.
