President Buhari has taken the lead in four out of the five states announced by INEC. The states include Ekiti, Osun, Kwara and Nasarawa, while Atiku Abubakar won in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Thugs on Sunday night set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

INEC has announced the results in Ekiti State, APC polled 219,231 to defeat PDP which had 154,031, margin of 65,199.

INEC has commenced the announcement of results in the various states of the federation. Ekiti State is calling out the results collated in the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari has taken the lead in Kaduna State from the results of 11 local government areas collated so far. He polled 362,337 votes against 254,909 by his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of PDP.

 

APC’s senatorial candidate, Oluremi Tinubu has been declared winner of the Lagos Central senatorial elections. State collation officer, Prof Oyeyemi Elijah declared her the winner after polling 131,725 to beat her main challenger in the PDP who had 89,107. Candidate of the ADC got 1,949.

From results collated so far, PDP has won ten local government areas in Benue State, while APC took the remaining 4.

The total results collated so far gives PDP a total score of 182,968 against 134,208 for the APC.

President Muhammadu Buhari has left his residence in Daura, Katsina after participating in the Saturday election. He is expected back in Abuja later today.

PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is leading in Adamawa State after collation of fourteen local governments. The results is being announced by state collation officer, Prof Haruna Dahiru, VC Federal University, Gashuwa.

The results trickling in shows that Buhari and have an even share of the 14 local governments so far as both claimed seven governments each.

The Governing All Progressive Congress APC Has once again hit above People’s Democratic party PDP in Benue as another local Government elections has just been collated at the headquarters of INEC in Makurdi Benue state.

In a summary, three 3 local Governments presidential election results have been collated so far.
The local Governments collated so far includes, Tarkaa, Ohimini and Ado. Local Governments won by APC is Tarkaa and Ohimini.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress APC won two local Governments out of the three 3 collated so far.
More results are coming in as we wait at the INEC headquarters in Makurdi Benue state.

 

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State,  Nsima  Ekere has lost in his local government area with the People’s Democratic Party  (PDP)  scoring 8353 votes while APC had 5710 votes.

Ekere who is from Ikot Abasi local government area did not win in his stronghold failing to deliver the required numbers votes that would have earned his party victory in the presidential election.

According to the results announced by the collation officer  for the local government area, out of 48,278 registered  voters and with 15,537 accredited  voters,  PDP had 8353 votes while APC had 5710 votes.
On the hand,  PDP has won in Onna local government area where Governor Udom Emmanuel,  the governorship candidate of the PDP in next month’s gubernatorial elections hails from.
Out of the 69312 registered voters, PDP scored 21790 votes while APC had 1850 votes.
Also,  out of the 10 local government areas announced,  PDP has won in nine while APC has won in one local government area.

The Independent electoral commission INEC  has officially opened its result collation centre in Abuja. The chairman and other officials are already seated.

The INEC decision was based on the allegation that the House of representative member for Gboko Tarkaa federal constituency, John Idyeh who came with armed thugs and made away with ballot boxes of the above mentioned polling units.

The PDP has polled the most votes at the DSS quarters, Abuja garnering 116 to APC’s 46. This is as the APC candidate came out tops at the ward of Jimi Agabeje, PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State.

PDP candidate garnered 84 votes, Buhari who ran under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trailed with 73.

INEC has said it was satisfied with the conduct of the election even though it also confirmed cases of violence and ballot box snatching in some areas leading to the disruption of the process.

PDP Presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar has lost his unit to President Buhari who is seeking re-election under APC. According to results from the polling unit where the former vice president voted earlier today, Yola North, Ajiwa Ward, PDP polled 120 against APC’s 187. ADC came third with 28 votes.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has lost his polling unit to President Buhari. According to results witnessed by our correpspondent APC polled 87 votes to beat PDP’s 18.

INEC has cancelled the elections in Rivers State Bonny Local Government Area after voting failed to take off there today over widespread electoral violence.

Some polling units have began to announce the results collated so far. The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, polled 52 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, who got 48 votes at the polling unit of APC gubernatorial candidate Sanwo-Olu.

INEC has extended the voting hours from 2pm to give people in centers where the process began very late to perform their civic responsibility. In Kano where many late cases have been reported, voters are voting very peacefully says BusinessDay correspondent.

Voters at centres in Amuwo Odofin, Surulere, Ago Palace and Okota have been forced to run for their dear lives as thugs snatch and burn ballot boxes. Several people have also been reported injured as they attempt to engage the hoodlums. Agents of the ruling party APC and the main opposition PDP are blaming each for the growing incidences.

Pockets of violence are also being reported in Rivers State as thugs invade polling units to snatch ballot boxes.

Voting has been concluded and counting is about to begin at the polling unit of APC Lagos gubernatorial candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lateef Jakande/Femi Okunnu Ward 019, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Voting has also ended in polling unit 001A Karu, Abuja.

An eye witness in another centre in Akure, Ondo said “Election concluded in Ward 08 PU 029, Akure South. The official in charge just told us now that they forgot “election material that they will use to count the vote” The INEC official with the NSCDC Staff has left the polling unit now to get the material.”

Another eye witness in an unidentified polling centre narrated “Thought they were suppose to count the votes at thepolling unit. They just finished voting in a polling unit close to mine and they took the ballot boxes and drove off. I really don’t know how this thing works anymore.”

Eye witnesses say thugs are snatching ballot boxes at Ago Palace and Okota areas of Lagos. At both units the boxes were burnt. The crowd caught one of the thugs and beat him near death before police men arrived.

An eye witness at a polling unit in Surulere said “We have been disenfranchised by thugs at our polling unit, Lagos, Surulere, Aguda with Polling Unit Number 24-20-02-051. Thugs came and forced us out, beat an elderly man and asked us to go back to the east to vote.”

Police has arrested 2 thugs linked to one of the two frontline parties in Ilorin trying to snatch ballot boxes and disrupt election process.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has performed his civic responsibilities in his home state of Ogun while former Lagos Governor and APC national leader Ahmed Bola Tinubu also cast his vote at a unit near his Bourdillon residence.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived at his Polling Unit 047, Sunday Adigun Street, Aluasa Junction of Kafi Street, Alausa, Ikeja, at exactly 11:25am.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says he is confident that his party will get a second chance.

The Vice President joined the voting queue and waited his turn before casting his vote at the VGC unit in Lagos.

Fomer Nigerian President Googluck Jonathan alongside his wife, Dame Patience earlier at his Polling Unit 39, Ward 13, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State, where they voted at the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Voters at polling unit 022 Durumi 2, Abuja say the card reader identified their names but their names were not captured in the voters list, so they cannot be allowed to vote.

The chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA, Hon. Malachy Agbo, casting his vote at Unit 003 Ohodo, Igbo-Etit LGA, Enugu State. The election is going on well in all the polling units in the area.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that several supporters of the party were being intimidated from participating in the election by hoodlums suspected to be working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tex Ukuonu, the director general for the PDP’s House of Representatives candidate in Oshodi/Isolo Emmanuel Udom, in an interview with BusinessDay, noted that heavy shooting within Okota scared many voters from polling booths in the constituency.

Minutes after casting his vote at the ward 012 polling unit in Adamawa, Atiku Abubaker told journalists he looks forward to a successful transition.

“I’m a Democrat…I will accept the results.” he says.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State was unable to get accredited at his Agassa Uvete Unit 11 polling Unit, Okene LG, due to a faulty card reader machine.

Bello, who along with his wives, Rasheeda and Amina, stood on the queue for over an hour, while INEC officials went in frantic search for a replacement reader machine, expressed  his disappointment at the development.

He however expressed the hope that his was an isolated case.

“I am disappointed at INEC, and I hope my own is an isolated case,” he said.

NEC as at the time of filing this story had secured a replacement, and the governor was able to cast his vote.

In Kaduna State, Governor El-Rufai in the company of his wife has voted is polling unit in Unguwan Sarki.

Voting gets underway in Akwa Ibom

The first in the two part series of the 2019 General elections got underway in Akwa Ibom. state with elections officials and materials on hand for the exercise.
In most of the centres in Uyo metropolis,  the turnout was impressive as voters waited patiently to be accredited to enable them exercise their franchise
At the Uyo urban ward three,  Christ the King Primary School,  an election official was seen addressing the voters on how to check  their names on the voters register.
A first time voter, Abasiama Bassey Nyong told our reporter that she was happy to vote for the first time adding that she expected her vote to count.
“I am happy to vote for the first time and I am.doing this with the hope it would enable a government that would tackle youth unemployment to be elected.
In many of the units visited,  voters  were seen queuing in readiness to cast their ballots.
An observer noted that with the level of orderliness seen so far, it is likely that the elections would pass off peacefully.
At Byazhin waterboard Polling unit 001  in Kubwa- a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the federal capital Territory enthusiastic voters have commenced simultaneous voting and accrediation at exactly 8.30am.
Voters who could not sort out their voting centres were seen making last minute sorting  of  their names using the  INEC register pasted in the walls of adjacent to the polling centre.

BusinessDay reports that there are concerns for voters not getting their names sorted out via online platform as they complained that the online search is down and not helping them.
“We would have sorted out the issue of knowing our centres without searching via the online register,‎but we have to come here and and search in the INEC register with the code number Byazhin 001″Agboola Yekini,a voter told BusinessDay.
Domestic observers alongside Pressmen and Police constables were seen at the point of duty .Also military men  were seen on constant patrol but not coming close to the voting centres.

BusinessDay correspondent in Abuja reports that confusion hinders smooth run of voting process in ward 005 Garki, Abuja. Voting process in ward 005 Garki appears uncoordinated as voters do no understand how to vote and what each box represents.
The situation seems to be more complicated as the INEC adhoc staff are unwilling to direct or help educate the voters on what to do. A voter Usman who was able to complete his voting with the help of media agents expressed disappointment as he had to stand for quite a long time with the ballot papers before help came.

As voters across Nasarawa State troop to their various polling unites to exercise their civic responsibilities, INEC materials are yet to arrive most of the polling units.
This was in spite of reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the state has distributed election materials to the 13 local government areas, the election materials are yet to be distributed onward to the polling units.

A visit to most of the polling units in the state capital for instance by BusinessDay observed that, electorates were stranded waiting for the commencement of the election, while in some pulling units, there was low turn out of voters for the exercise.
In Kofar Wambai pulling units of Gayam Ward, the polling units of Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura showed that as at 9:10 election was yet to commence, where about 400 voters out of the 1143 total register came out at the unit.
There was heavy security personnel strategically located in stated to control movement and forestalled any break of law and order.

Several polling units are experiencing late commencement of voting as INEC officials are not seen and voters are waiting in frustration. At a polling unit at Area 2, Section 2, there is a long queue of voters but election is yet to commence at 9:14.

Heavy security presence in Asaba

There was heavy security presence across major cities in Delta State as anxious voters await commencement of accreditation and voting.
At one of the polling units in Asaba, Ozoigwe primary school, as early as 7:30am heavy security presence were on ground to avert any possible breakdown of law.
Corps members are already around, some of whom according to our investigation, slept at the veranda of the primary school, while security men comprising police, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and prison officers are already on ground.
The corps members are seen with their mats and sleeping materials at the school premises.
Few voters were on ground waiting for accreditation to commence at 8am prompt.
Observers from ECOWAS and domestic observers were also on ground waiting for commencement of accreditation.
Ballot boxes, tables were seen ready but ballot papers, card readers and result sheets not yet available.
At Cavegina Primary school in Warri South local government area, one of the polling centers, there was also heavy presence of security operative and corps members but voting was yet to commence as at 8am.
Earlier at the office of the INEC, Warri South, the Electoral Officer, Mrs Grace Okah told journalists that all materials have since been distributed to all polling centers in council area.
“The materials were suppose to go the Registration Area Centers (RAC) before midnight yesterday but the party agents refused because of the presence of sensitive materials. Even when the DPO intervened that there will be security men to escort them they still refused. However that issue was resolved early this morning at about 6am.

No attack in Borno, Police says

The Nigerian police has issued a statement denying that the sound of heavy gunfire heard around Maiduguri metropolis was connected to terrorist attack.

The Commissioner of Police Borno State, CP Damian Chukwu said there was no attack on any part of the state and hence no threat to public peace and order.

“The gunfire was not targeted at members of the public was for security purpose,” he said in  a statement.

Polling unit 001A in Karu, Abuja, voters are waiting for accreditation and voting. This is where senator Phillip Aduda is expected to cast his vote.

In Asaba, as at 8.20am, election materials yet to arrive INEC’S registration centres (RAC) IN Oshimili South LGA. Distribution of election materials were ongoing at Ahabam Primary School as well as Uzoigwe Primary School. NYSC members who slept at the centres were seen waiting to collect materials so as to move on to their various polling stations. A good number of the voters were already waiting for election to start.

At PU 009 Bebeji Doromawa in Kano South, election is going but having challenges with card reader authentication.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s unit is experiencing hitches as INEC officials not on ground and over 500 people are waiting. The Vice President has arrived with his wife.

At INEC centre for Uvuru ward 1,2 and Amuzu and Lorji, election materials are yet to be taken to various polling units. Voting likely to start late.

As at 7.28am, the polling officers are yet to be seen anywhere around Alapere in Kosofe Local Government.
