Kebbi, Lagos State to partner on rice, beef processing

Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi said on Monday in Birnin-Kebbi, that Kebbi would partner Lagos for the processing of paddy rice and beef.Bagudu who was addressing the newly sworn-in members of the state executive council, said the partnership would boost food production.

He said that the agreement for the processing of paddy rice in Lagos was to expand the scope of commercial rice production, especially through the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Rice and Wheat Borrower programme.

“This partnership will also involve the development of fishery department to ensure food sufficiency,’’ the governor said.

He explained that officials of the Nigeria based structural lending had commenced the registration of 70,000 rice farmers for the dry season farming, while wet season farming would also be strengthened.
