Fuel queues may soon return in various parts of the country following Wednesday’s announcement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), that it had shut down the Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries owing to vandalisation of crude oil pipelines.
In a statement signed by Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, stated that the plants were shut simultaneously on Sunday after the Bonny-Okrika crude supply line to the Port Harcourt Reinery and the Escravos-Warr crude supply line to the Kaduna Refinery suffered breaches.
The statement however noted that the Warri Refining and Petrochemicals company is still on stream and producing above 1.4 million litres of petrol per day.
