The First session of the Federal Executive Council meeting, since inauguration has been scheduled to hold next week Monday, BusinessDay can report.

FEC meeting, it was confirmed would now hold on Mondays instead of the traditional Wednesdays in which the past administrations convened it.

However, a senior government official said it is yet to be decided whether the meeting would hold weekly or biweekly as speculated. Since the inauguration of the cabinet, the meeting has only held once, right after the ministers took their oath of office on the 11th of November.

The meeting, a traditional engagement since the return to democracy in 1999 is held weekly except at a few instances that it was shifted at the instances of the President.

“FEC will hold when there is a need for it, when there is a need for brainstorming and policy direction. It may be weekly or biweekly, only the President can determine the regularity. But I can tell you that it will now be held on Mondays” .

Stressing that there was no need to hold the meeting every week, the official added that “all the ministers have been given their mandates.
Is there any significant productivity that was achieved by holding the meetings on a weekly basis?”

However when asked Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina had penultimate week when the meeting failed to hold said “there is no law that states that council must convene every week” adding that you cannot force the dictates of the past administration on the current one.
