There are strong indications that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele is about to clinch another 5-year term in office, breaking  the long-held tradition of just one term held by several of his predecessors.

Sources said on Thursday morning that President Buhari who has been impressed with Emefiele’s policies which had, to a large extent, driven macroeconomic stability has already sent a letter to the Senate nominating him for a second term.

Ita Enang, who is the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters could not confirm to BusinessDay whether the development is true or not, but only laughed and said, “ I cannot comment on it.”
