Ekiti Election: Fayose in early lead

It was a reverberating sound of PDP: Power! Power!! Power!!! in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state and its environs as the electorate, especially youths
jubilating round the city as the results collated so far put Ayodele Fayose, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate on early lead.
The governorship election which started at 8 am in almost all the 2,195 polling units located in all 16 Local governments in the State, though amid tight security, saw the deputy governor, Modupe Adelabu; Segun Oni, PDP defector, now All
Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart; and some Governor Fayemi’s aides lose their polling units and wards to PDP.
In a governorship election which many described as the fairest and most faultless election witnessed so far in Ekiti state, the sitting deputy governor, Dupe Adelabu on the platform of APC was beaten in her polling unit: CAC polling unit in Ado-Ekiti with PDP polling 304 votes; APC – 73 votes, while LP polled 26 votes.
Another ward in Ado-Ekiti; Ward 10 Better Life Area, Basiri in the State capital PDP polled 400 votes; APC – 121votes; LP – 23 votes and Accord recorded 3 votes.
Reports from Ekiti Central Senatorial District so far indicated that PDP had won
most of the votes, even at former governor, Segun Oni’s Local government-
Ifaki-Ekiti LG with the former governor losing his former governor, Segun Oni’s
Ward – Oloriolode polling unit with PDP recording 188 votes; APC -39 votes and LP 3
votes, just as the serving senator of APC – Adetunmbi lost to PDP with PDP polling
175 votes; while APC polled 111.
Other results in Ifaki-Ekiti Local government showed that PDP polled PDP 213 votes
and APC 50 votes; Orekiran Elemiko unit – PDP polled 174 votes and APC 42 votes;
Ile Aderiye Polling unit, Iwore -PDP – 157 votes and APC 47 votes; AUD School
Unit, PDP – 195 votes and APC 55 votes; Omi Oniyo unit, PDP – 165 votes and APC –
61 votes; and Methodist Church unit, PDP – 51 votes and APC – 1 vote.
