The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Emeka Mba, the Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to answer questions relating to an alleged N15 billion fraud.
An NBC spokesman said Mba was not arrested as earlier reported but was invited and an official statement would be released when he returns.
“He went voluntarily, following his invitation and I am waiting for him to come back so that I can issue a proper statement,” he said.
BusinessDay learnt that Mba was at the EFFC headquarters, Abuja in the early hours of Monday, January, 11 (2016) after being invited for interrogation on matters relating to fraud.
Our sources revealed that investigations on the NBC have been ongoing for the past month or so. Last week, some detectives stormed the headquarters of the NBC, searching through computers and files in the Finance and Account unit and some key Accounts staff where then taken away for questioning after the raid.
When contacted, the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he was on an official assignment in Lagos and had not been briefed.
