The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday, said it would conduct a Corruption Risk Assessment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in its bid to eradicate low level of corruption in the aviation industry.

Isa Ozi Salami, head of delegation to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and chairman of the Aviation Anti-Corruption Committee, said the visit was meant to implore the management of FAAN to cooperate in the exercise.

Salami pointed out that since the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between both agencies to eliminate low-level corruption, the ICPC required a full co-operation from FAAN as the exercise had reached a critical stage.

According to him, airports are gateway to the country and it was imperative to phase out corruption at the airports, as the ICPC strategy was based on analytical approach as well as getting full co-operation from the public.

Also speaking, Jibrin Manigi, director of internal audit, Federal Ministry of Aviation, said the ministry was glad to have the ICPC to collaborate with FAAN to fight corruption at the airports.

He implored the management of FAAN to train its staff in the ICPC college in Abuja, adding that it would give the staff idea of tackling corruption.

While expressing delight and full support of ICPC request, Saleh Dunoma, managing director, FAAN, said, ICPC would get total commitment from FAAN.
