The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a notification to authorised dealers and the general public of the Bank of England withdrawal of GBP50.0, with the portrait of John Houblon, from circulation by April 30, 2013.
With the withdrawal of GBP50.0 from circulation, the currency ceases to be legal tender with effect from April 30, 2014, the CBN said in a circular signed by Ajewole J.O. ag director, trade and exchange department, CBN.
Consequently, the CBN has directed all authorised dealers in possession of the currency note and wish to repatriate their stock of it may avail themselves of the services of Messrs Travelex Banknote Limited.
