President Muhammadu Buhari has resumed work this morning after over fifty days of being away. He arrived his office at about 11:30am.

This is even as the Presidency says the letter to be transmitted to the National Assembly informing them of his resumption has been written and signed by the President, ready for dispatch.

The President who arrived the country on Friday morning had said despite his return, he still needed to rest at the weekend.

The two Presidential Media aides Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, walked to the presidential residence at about 10:30am to meet with the President. Then followed the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who went directly to the President’s office.

Emerging from the President’s office, Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, told journalists that the letter was ready. He held up the white envelope calling it the “Golden Fleece”.

The Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly matters Senate Ita Enang had also arrived the Presidential Villa and headed to the President’s office to collect the original copy of the letter for transmission.

Adesina also told journalists that the President is expected to hold a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo within the hour.

In a meeting after his return from a 50-day medical vacation in London, Buhari had said he deliberately decided to arrive on a weekend to allow Osinbajo continue with his work while he rested some more.

“I deliberately came back towards the weekend, so that the Vice President will continue and I will continue to rest,” he said. His media handlers had immediately taken to their twitter handles stating that he was taken out of context. They explained that the President said it jokingly and clarified that he will be transmitting a letter to the National Assembly on Monday. “PMB will Monday transmit a letter to N’ Assembly on his return to the country. That makes his return to work formal, and constitutional” Adesina said on his twitter handle, Friday.

As at the time of filling this report the Presidential Villa is still quiet and void of visitors at the time of this report.
