President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to 11 bills passed by the 8th National Assembly.
The bills include: Nigerian Film Commission Bill(2018), Digital Rights and Freedom Bill(2018), Chartered Institute of Pension Practitioners of Nigeria Bill(2018), Climate Change Bill(2018), Immigration Act Amendment Bill(2018) and National Biotechnology Development Agency Bill(2018).
Others are National Institute of Credit Administration Bill(2018), Ajaokuta Steel Company Compltion Fund Bill(2018), Federal Mortage Bank Bill(2018), National Housing Bill(2018), Small and Medim Entreprrises Development Agency Bill(2018).
Buhari in different letters to the Speaker, House of Representatives read on the floor of the House Tuesday during plenary cited ambiguity, conflict with existing laws and duplication of functions of existing agencies as well as increased government expenses as reasons for the decline of presidential assent to the bills.
