The Kaduna State government on Friday evening said 66 persons were killed by unknown gunmen in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state less than 24 hours to the Nigeria’s crucial presidential and National Assembly elections, Vanguard reports.
According to a statement by Samuel Aruwan, spokesman to Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna State, 22 children and 12 women were among the victims.
The statement said security agencies were on the trail of the assailants but did not, however, provide details about where or how the killing took place.
