Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has promised to publish details of monthly federal allocation and other monies that accrue to the state in the spirit of transparency and accountability.
Ortom stated this during the commissioning a micro finance bank (Better Life Microfinance Bank) and showrooms for tractors and harvesters located within the same premises in Makurdi, owned by a seasoned banker, Julius Atorough.
According to Ortom, even as labour leaders know what comes into the state’s coffers and how it is spent, some people mischievously express misgivings about the honest and transparent posture of his administration.
He said Benue workers have not gone on strike because of the open nature of his administration and added that the issue of salary payment has never been hidden from the people.
While stating further that another N10 billion loan for infrastructural development was taken, the governor said the expected was not N75 billion as speculated on social media.
Earlier, Atorough had informed that his decision to invest in the state was in order to avail rural dwellers services that would enhance the expansion of their businesses stressing that women were his major targets owing to the important role they play in driving the rural economy.
He informed that already, over 2000 women had registered with the bank and encouraged business minded individuals in the state to key into the Bank’s agenda to enhance their investments.
