Augusta Airline begins investigation into Osibanjo helicopter crash

Augusta Airline has begun investigation into the crash of the AQ139 Helicopter conveying Vice President Yemi Osibanjo in Kabba, Kogi State on Saturday.

Laolu Askande, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on media and publicity had announced via his tweeter handle that Osinbajo and his crew were involved in the crash but they came out safe from the plane crash.

He said, “VP Osinbajo’s Chopper crash landed in Kabba, but he and the entire crew safe. He is continuing with his engagements and plans for the day in Kogi State.

“We give all the glory to God, our able protector and commend all the Flight Crew officials for their service. We are marching on for indeed we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us”

According to an eyes witness who preferred anonymity the Chopper crashed because the Pilot forgot to wet the floor so heavy dust came back up leading to his disorientation .

The Management of Augusta Airline in a Statement made available to Business Saturday night confirmed that the mishap was due to unusual weather conditions.

“An Augusta AW139 Helicopter, under management by Caverton Helicopters was involved in a mishap on landing in Kabba, Kogi State around 3pm
today (2nd February, 2019) as a result of unusual weather condition.

“There were no injuries to the passengers or crew onboard and they were all quickly and safely evacuated.

“The relevant authorities have been duly informed and an investigation into the incidence has commenced. We will, of course, support the authorities as required.

“We wish to reassure the public and our various stakeholders of our unwavering commitment to safety in all of our operations”.
