The Nigerian Army has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Republic of Korean Army in building capacity of its military for efficient performance.
Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the chief of army staff, stated this while playing host to the South Korean Defence Attaché (DA) to Nigeria Navy, Captain Shin Jae Sung in his office at the Army headquarters.
In a statement signed by Onyema Nwachukwu, on behalf of the Army’s acting director army public relations, said the chief of army staff noted with satisfaction the training exchange programme between the two armies, which have spanned for decades and promised to maintain the excellent relationship existing between them.
Earlier, Jae Sung had told the chief of army staff that his visit was aimed at seeking for an improved military collaboration as regards training and capacity building.
He said the present security challenges in Nigeria were not peculiar to the country, adding that countries were faced with various challenges, and that the situation in Nigeria was similar to Korea’s and as such, there was need to enhance combat strategies between the two nations.
Present at the occasion were some principal staff officers of the Army headquarters as well as the Consul/Chief Security Officer of the Republic of Korea Embassy in Nigeria.
