The acting managing director of Platform Petroleum Limited, John Anim said the maiden Petroleum Day organised by the company will offer stakeholders in the oil and gas industry the opportunity to discuss the Petroleum Industry Act, (PIA) recently accented by President Muhammudu Buhari.
According to Anim, the highlight of the day will be a public presentation of a book titled: ‘’Laws on Oil & Gas Exploration and Production in Nigeria- A Text in Honour of Austin Avuru”.
The book, which is in honour of Austin Avuru, former Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Petroleum will be presented by the Chairman of Platform Petroleum, Dumo Lulu-Briggs and will be held on August 27 in Lagos.
To lead the Discussion is the Guest Speaker, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi (SAN) and a Chaplain of Emmanuel Chapel of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.

Other special guests expected include Fabian Ajogwu,(SAN); Umar Mohammed Bago, Chairman, House Committee on Co-operation and Integration in Africa and Member representing Chanchagi Federal Constituency of Niger State, and many others

“This day is also auspicious to honour one of our own, Austin Avuru, the immediate past Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy Plc and to recognize his immense contributions to the development of the petroleum sector.
Anim noted that the new book is a collector’s item and a resource publication that will be of great interest and benefit to major stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Petroleum Day is celebrated annually, August 27 in other oil-producing countries like the United States, Russia, Canada, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, among others.
