Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the cameras that were seen being removed from the Lekki toll gate scene of the #EndSARS protest hours before the shootings by suspected armed soldiers, were not CCTV cameras.
Sanwo-Olu said the cameras which were seen in a footage circulating on the social media being disconnected by a staff of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), operators of the toll agate, were those meant to capture vehicles and track their particulars.
The governor, who live on Arise TV station on Thursday morning said CCTV cameras at the tollgate were still intact and footages from them would be useful in the investigation into the shootings by a judicial panel of enquiry, which he said might be constituted by this weekend, and possibly begin sitting by Monday, October 26
Sanwo-Olu, who noted this his administration did not give order for the removal of the infrared cameras, said the tollgate management explained that they had to remove them because of the curfew he earlier imposed on the state to stem the tide of crisis that had engulfed the state following the #EndSARS protest.
