Obafemi Owoseni Omokungbe, was born March 22, 1962 is an engineer, teacher of teachers and administrator. He is currently the Rector, Yaba College If Technology ( YABATECH) -the cradle of Higher learning in Nigeria, and the first alumnus of the institution in that capacity.
Omokungbe attended Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu, Ogun state for his secondary education and the prestigious Yaba college of Technology for his tertiary education, from where he obtained the National and Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Not satisfied with that, he proceeded to the university of Lagos for a Bachelor of Science (B.SC) degree and Master of Science ( M.SC) in civil engineering.
Obafemi Omokungbe working experiences, which spans almost three decades began in 1988 immediately after his National Youth Service Corp at Home Construction and Dredging Nigeria Limited where he was employed as a site engineer. In 1993, he crossed to Yaba College of Technology as a lecturer Grade 3 and rose steadily to the position of a Chief Lecturer in 2009.

Omokungbe has served as a course adviser in the department of civil engineering, Head of Civil Engineering Department and member and chairman of various academic and administrative committees in the college.
Omokungbe was elected as the chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ( ASUP), YABATECH chapter in 2005 which brought about meaningful and sustainable welfare package for the entire staff. His tenure witnessed tremendous growth and development in academic and infrastructures. He was nick named ‘ Mr welfare’, by his teeming associates and colleagues within the college.
From 1993 to date, Omokungbe has had some interesting, stimulating and rewarding experiences in research, engineering, construction and administration.
These vast experiences have aided and propel some of his outstanding and innovative contributions to his immediate environment in particular and the nation in general.
As Rector, income generation has been enhanced with the upgrading of facilities and infrastructures within the college. On relationship with staff and students, the all inclusive administrator often seek dialogue which had brought about “harmony without compromising discipline.”
Little wonder that he left no one in doubt of his ability to move YABATECH forward, based on his track records and pedigree which speak volume.
Two years in the saddle, engineer Omokungbe has laid a solid foundation of achievements for YABATECH.
Obafemi Omokungbe is a member of various professional bodies. These includes, member, Nigerian Society of Engineers ( MNSE), member, Nigerian Institution for Civil Engineers (MNICE), member, Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers (,Mnistructe), Member, American Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE), Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers (Fnistructe).
He is happily married with children.
