Meadow Hall Educamp focuses on teacher training, enters edition nine

Meadow Hall Educamp, an annual educational event designed to improve the quality of education in Nigeria and organised by Meadow Hall Consult, during its ninth edition focused on ‘People, Purpose & Passion: The Pathway to Success’ with many members of the education sector, local and international in attendance. Educamp is three-day residential training programme targeted at all members of the education sector. It provides an enabling environment for key educational stakeholders to network and share ideas on the best education practices.

 

Like last year, this year’s edition took place in Lagos, August 30 to September 1 and is due to begin in Port Harcourt September 5-6. Teachers arrived to take part in a Meadow Hall Educamp focuses on teacher training, enters edition nine bouquet of courses, such as ‘Critical thinking and problem solving’, ‘Emotional intelligence,’ as well as specific courses to improve their productivity and that of the students, such as ‘Creating an outstanding classroom’, ‘Effective use of data for teaching and learning’, ‘alternative discipline methods for high school students’ and much more.

 

The classes were vibrant and extremely engaging, with the speakers leaving room for dialogue with the intrigued participants.

 

The participants listened to inspirational keynote speakers such as Kehinde Nwani, GMD/CEO, Meadow Hall Group; Lolu Akinwunmi, Group CEO, Prima Garnet, and Folasade Adefisayo, Principal Consultant/CEO, Leading Learning Ltd. These speakers persistently touched on the theme of the programme, asking participants what their ‘Passions’ are, what their ‘Purpose’ is and how they interact with ‘People’ and build relationships. Nwani and Akinwunmi both spoke of the importance of teachers educating their students ‘ethically as well as academically’.

 

Adefisayo spoke about the massive influence teachers have on their students as ‘leaders’ “a teacher’s impact on society is everlasting, so it is important to take your leadership role very seriously, she said. The Meadow Hall Group is passionate about the holistic development of children and committed to raising excellent, Godly and wellrounded children who will attain their full potential and use their skills and knowledge to affect their nation positively. However, they understand that the key to this process is developing teachers to be the best they can be in all aspects.

 

As part of the highlights of Educamp 2017, the winner of the Inspirational School Leaders Awards 2017, Remi Tanimola, of Army Children Senior High School, Ikeja and the winner of the Inspirational Teachers Awards 2017, Odueke Abiodun Kafilat of Station Junior Grammar School, Iju were invited to share their inspirational stories with the participants.
