With the third term underway, the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has rolled out a state-wide inspection of schools, targeting compliance with set standards and student safety measures.

Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the commissioner for basic and secondary education, gave a directive ahead of the official resumption date of Monday, May 4, 2026, for all public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as government technical colleges, in line with the approved academic calendar.

The directive, which came via the government’s Facebook page, emphasised that the inspection is to ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental sanitation, proper attendance, and overall readiness for academic activities as the third term begins.

“Inspection teams will be deployed state-wide to assess adherence to required standards, including the condition of school environments, availability of learning facilities, and punctual resumption of both students and staff,” the ministry stated.
